Pumpkins

Our once a month poetry collaboration theme is...pumpkins! I mean, it is October. 😃

Orange and round,
Filled with sweet meat.
Autumn is here,
It's pumpkins we eat.

In pies or in cakes,
It matters not which.
Smoothies or shakes,
All our tastebuds will twitch.

The above poem is compliments of my husband. Author Darrell Bedingfield
you can find his book Accidental Tenderness on Amazon.

Pumpkins
Pumpkins pumpkins
round and sweet
full of seeds
and juice meat

carved with faces
candles inside
in scary places

pumpkins pumpkins
orange or painted
sitting on steps
and yards with hay bales

LOL

2. You've seen the commercial "what's in your wallet?" well, not much after this trip.

3. Watermelon to the package, hey boxy, you're cramping my roll.

4. Isn't it lovely? Sitting there so unsuspecting...duh duh duh

5. I've got a lovely bunch of...oh wait, I've got a big melon? YES!
I love big melons and I can not lie
you other people can deny
when a farmer walks in with a big ol' pile
I get a big ol' smile up on my face
You get happy, you get all jumpy
'cause you know that melon is juicy
Oh I wanna get wid ya, take a picture of ya
and have a bowl full of ya...
Watermelon!

I'll stop before I scare the britches off ya! LOL

A Balm To My Soul

Hi and welcome. Today's post is participation in a group post. Each month we pick a them and then each blogger/writer chooses how they will interrupt that theme. Poetry is fluid, pictures in word form, free verse, prose or haiku, whatever you choose. It is an expression from ones inner most soul and I hope you enjoy each one of the verses given from all who took time to write for today's post. Our theme...National Relaxation Day - August 2018 Poetry collaboration post.

Sitting by the water
breathing in salt air
warm breeze stirs my hair

Standing on the edge
of concern and
giving in to woe

breathing in salt air
it gives balm
to my weary soul

a gentle breeze
sun kissed cheeks
birds in the wind

waves on the ocean
a boat floating by
dolphins playing carefree
all this by the seaside

I sit and soak it in
breathing in the salt air
until my worries are carried away
then I rise to face yet another day

Driving home
refreshed and renewed
my spirit can handle
another week or two
I took this photo at Shell Point near Harkers Island NC on November 30, 2015

Hot Butter Baby

he walked into the room
looking like sliced butter on a hot knife
every woman stopped and stared

she allowed a smile to slip across her lips
knowing he was hers
and only hers

at that moment she felt
great power
a superior feeling

every woman
wanted him
and wanted
to be her

Finding Her Prince - International Kissing Poetry Theme

K I S S I N G  everyone remembers this sing song chant as kids. Well today our poetry theme is kissing but we threw in international. Be sure to visit the links below to see how each writer interrupted their own poetry/prose with this theme.

💋💋💋💋💋💋

sweaty there he stood
a vision in shorts
his hair dangling curls

sparkling deep brown eyes
a disarming smile he gave
and biceps to thrill

who would have thought she
they would find love internationally
across the big blue ocean

kissing in Germany
their hearts beat with the swaying train
love or so they say

kissing in Itlay
while riding the gondola
with stars shining bright

gazing in his eyes
holding tight to the moment
never letting go

small town country girl
international kissing
so dreams do come true

New Do -UYW - June

If you are my friend on facebook, you have seen my new profile picture. It has gotten a lot of attention, some good, some bad.
My hair had become more than I can handle on a daily basis. Down to my waist, thin, baby fine and tangles so easy.
So on my birthday feeling fully loaded, not with alcohol but with a sense of purpose. I headed out to find a hair salon.
I decided to get it cut, spice it up, do something different.
Well, a lopsided pink do was not exactly what I had in mind but honestly I love it. According to my friends, it is "not me" but who cares. It's fun and daring. When was the last time you did something fun and daring?
Would you cut off over 20 inches of your hair, straighten your curls, color it pink and look like a modern day sexy Marilyn Monroe style?
I didn't. It was a snapchat filter but I do like it and I am amazed at home many people actually thought I did do it.
Do I present myself as the type to do that? I guess they think so.
Thanks Jules for these words, they came at just the right time. So fun!

Your words are:
More than I can handle ~ Fully loaded ~ Pink ~ Lopsided ~ Decided

Today’s post is a writing challenge. This is how it works: participating bloggers picked 4 – 6 words or short phrases for someone else to craft into a post. All words must be used at least once and all the posts will be unique as each writer has received their own set of words. That’s the challenge, here’s a fun twist; no one who’s participating knows who got their words and in what direction the writer will take them. Until now.

My Barefoot Days - June poetry

Welcome to the group poetry efforts of five bloggers, including myself. Each month we chose a theme and then set about putting our thoughts, feelings and rhyme on pages for you to read. At the bottom of the post you'll find the other links.
This month we chose "Barefoot Days" as our theme. For me, that is everyday. I am not a fan of shoes. Okay, I love heels but can no longer wear them. I spend my days barefooted. My pup knows if mama has on shoes, she is leaving.
It is my desire that you see my childhood summers in this Haiku. Thanks for stopping by.

Me running barefoot
jumping in puddles of rain
feeling slimy mud

it squishing between my toes
puddle jumping and splashing
long warm summer days

picking peas and corn
swimming, naps, firefly catching
blowing gum bubbles

pigtails a flying
chasing pretty butterflies
pink cheeks freckled nose

playing tag with friends
two dirty feet and scraped knees
a little girls dream

rainbows and toad frogs
flip flops and short sundresses
summer barefoot days

cousin sleepovers
reading stories by flashlight
making each day count

Birthday Adventure Vacation -SS

Welcome to a Secret Subject Swap. This week 10 brave bloggers picked a secret subject for someone else and were assigned a secret subject to interpret in their own style. Today we are all simultaneously divulging our topics and submitting our posts.

It is Friday! Who's ready to party? ME! It's my birthday! What better day for your birthday to fall on than a Friday, it's the end of the work week, the beginning of the weekend AND it's payday. Let the festivities begin.

(IF) I won an adventure vacation, here is how I would want it to go.

1) fly to first destination, Paris. Check into the luxury hotel and my suite. Where a bath would be drawn in the claw-foot tub that would be sitting in a marble room with french doors opened to overlook the city. A side table with a candle and a glass of champagne are waiting.
After the luxurious bath I would dress in comfortable sight seeing clothes. We (of course I would have my husband along) would set out and find a quaint little cafe where we would enjoy espresso and a croissant. We would tour the city and return to the hotel in the early evening.
Another wonderful bath, a massage and then changing into our evening fancy dinner clothes. We would be whisked off in a limo to the finest restaurant in the city where we would dine on the latest creation of a world renowned chef.
The next morning we would be awaken with breakfast in bed. Then dressing we would head to the airport and fly to our second destination.
2) Upon arrival at our second destination we are taken to the hotel where we put on our (it's okay to get dirty) clothes, LOL, jeans, boots, t-shirt, grab our hats and goggles. yes I said goggles. We are going mudding!!
We each climb into a jeep and off we go. Flying at breakneck speeds over mounds of dirt as a power sprayer is shooting water all over the track, up hills, through puddles, mud spraying everywhere. Squealing and laughing, spitting out mud and wiping off our  goggles so we can continue the ride.
Stopping for a lunch break we dine on slow roasted pit cooked pork, slaw, hushpuppies and oven baked bacon bbq beans. Then it's back to the track, but a different kind. A dirt racing track where we climb into our cars and head off around the track.
After a fabulous adrenaline filled day we head to the hotel to shower and change.
We take it easy this night and go for burgers and a movie.
3)Day three we wake up and head out to the country side where a hot air balloon awaits us. We climb in and are spellbound at the beauty below us. We enjoy this ride for several hours and make a soft landing in a meadow where a picnic lunch awaits us.
After the lunch we head back to the skies, we land on the beach where a gentleman loads us into a small boat and out we go. Once the land is barely visible we see our next ride. A lovely yacht.
4) adventure 4 begins on the yacht as we sail the seas and head  toward the Bahama's.
We spend 2 fun filled days here, snorkeling, swimming, clamming, sitting by the fire pit at night, drinking, dancing and loving every single minute.
Sadly the adventure ends and we fly back home having made new friends and lots of new memories.
Hey , if I win, I want it to be big.

Brunch at the cafe - UYW - MAY

Today’s post is a writing challenge. This is how it works: participating bloggers picked 4 – 6 words or short phrases for someone else to craft into a post. All words must be used at least once and all the posts will be unique as each writer has received their own set of words. That’s the challenge, here’s a fun twist; no one who’s participating knows who got their words and in what direction the writer will take them. Until now.

At the end of this post you’ll find links to the other blogs featuring this challenge. Check them all out, see what words they got and how they used them.

Let's be fancy and go have "brunch at the cafe" my buddy said. Sure why not, we had nothing else to do. So the five of us walked down to the corner cafe. It was very busy and thankfully one table left. Six chairs but one was broken which was no big deal since there was only five of us. I moved it aside. Then...
She sauntered in, looking as fine as a macaroon. Delicious, delicate but you could tell there were layers of mystery inside. Standing next to the fountain, she glanced around and only one chair was open, the broken chair. The thought hit me, ditch your buddies, no reason to be united with them on such a fine day. So I did just that. I walked over and said hi, offered her a tour of our lovely town under the night stars and crescent moon glow. She gave me a smile that would melt your Popsicle, reaching her delicate hand to caress my cheek. "Aww aren't you sweet." as her eyes lit up. I thought this is the one. Then he was there, standing next to her, the heat of their bodies standing so close was like opening a red hot furnace. I slowly backed away and went back to my buddies.
My buddy punched me in the arm just as I lifted my cherry cream soda making me slosh some on my sleeve. "HEY MAN look what you did!" He pointed. I turned and there she stood. She leaned down and ever so slowly whispered in my ear "this should make them green with envy" and she kissed my cheek, slowly, seductively. She stood, caressed my chin and said "see ya around lover boy" and off they went.
My heart was racing, they were slapping my back, atta boy! and cheers all around. Reaching up to touch the spot her lips had pressed against I felt like the luckiest man alive.
WOW what a doll!
