Welcome to the May 2019 edition of "the monthly poetry group" posting with the theme of May Day! Which could have been interrupted as the call for help, May Day the fertility celebration or just May in general. At the bottom of my post you'll see links to the others who are participating. I wonder which they chose? Hmm we'll have to pop over and see.
Thanks for stopping by!

My Heart My Gift
Welcome to the February poetry post, our theme this month is hearts, imagine that. Seriously, we try and hope that you enjoy all our efforts.
In January I shared about Sijo poetry. A Korean form of Haiku but with 3 lines only, each line consisting of 14-16 syllables and totaling no more than 44-46.
I found it a challenge after writing Haiku poetry for a few months, so I'm giving it another shot this month.
My Heart My Gift
Once a year we give gifts of love they come from our hearts
my gift to you is my heart please guard it as you would your own
it is needy, fragile and breaks when hurt, so give it lots of love
Haiku version
it will ebb and flow
is wrapped with emotions strong
my heart is my gift

Dark Days of Winter - poetry
Welcome to the first edition of 2019 poetry challenge. Each month myself and a few others choose a theme and write a poem about said theme. It could be free verse, prose, haiku or any other form that we choose. I'm glad you stopped by and hope you enjoy enough to return, also be sure to visit the others and see how they chose to write about...
Winter Blues - poetry theme Jan 2019
Poem title: Dark Days of Winter
"Haiku" is a traditional form of Japanese poetry. Haiku poems consist of 3 lines. The first and last lines of a Haiku have 5 syllables and the middle line has 7 syllables. The lines rarely rhyme.
cloudy bleak dreary
sun has gone into hiding
depression sets in
Sijo is a Korean form of poetry. Similar to the Haiku except it has 14-16 syllables per line, only 3 lines and no more than 46 syllables total.
Dark days of winter grey skies above leaving me cold inside
masking the sun's rays leaving us cold and feeling all alone
darkness in the sky is there any end in sight please sun come out
Be sure to stop by the other participating bloggers and read their poems. Thanks for stopping by!!

Welcome to the December issue of poetry...this month's theme is Cold Days. If you haven't stopped by before, each month several of my blogger friends get together, pick a theme, and write poetry, prose, haiku or free verse to said theme. I hope you'll stop by each one and see how each person interruperted the Cold Days theme.
Bundle up, stay warm and enjoy your day.
Ccccold Days!!
Cold days upon us
Snow falls gently all around
Frosty stands proudly
# 2
Snow drifts standing tall
Snowballs flying high and fast
target hit, man down
# 3
cold and dreary days
hot chocolate by the fire
cold nose and warm toes

Finding Her Prince - International Kissing Poetry Theme
K I S S I N G everyone remembers this sing song chant as kids. Well today our poetry theme is kissing but we threw in international. Be sure to visit the links below to see how each writer interrupted their own poetry/prose with this theme.
sweaty there he stood
a vision in shorts
his hair dangling curls
sparkling deep brown eyes
a disarming smile he gave
and biceps to thrill
who would have thought she
they would find love internationally
across the big blue ocean
kissing in Germany
their hearts beat with the swaying train
love or so they say
kissing in Itlay
while riding the gondola
with stars shining bright
gazing in his eyes
holding tight to the moment
never letting go
small town country girl
international kissing
so dreams do come true

My Barefoot Days - June poetry
Welcome to the group poetry efforts of five bloggers, including myself. Each month we chose a theme and then set about putting our thoughts, feelings and rhyme on pages for you to read. At the bottom of the post you'll find the other links.
This month we chose "Barefoot Days" as our theme. For me, that is everyday. I am not a fan of shoes. Okay, I love heels but can no longer wear them. I spend my days barefooted. My pup knows if mama has on shoes, she is leaving.
It is my desire that you see my childhood summers in this Haiku. Thanks for stopping by.
Me running barefoot
jumping in puddles of rain
feeling slimy mud
it squishing between my toes
puddle jumping and splashing
long warm summer days
picking peas and corn
swimming, naps, firefly catching
blowing gum bubbles
pigtails a flying
chasing pretty butterflies
pink cheeks freckled nose
playing tag with friends
two dirty feet and scraped knees
a little girls dream
rainbows and toad frogs
flip flops and short sundresses
summer barefoot days
cousin sleepovers
reading stories by flashlight
making each day count

Her Frosty Heart
Hi and welcome to the February group poetry post. Each month we pick a theme, then each blogger chooses their way of interperting that theme into a poem, hiaku, lymeric or prose. Be sure to visit each one as their links are listed at the bottom of this post.
This month's theme...frosty.
Her Frosty Heart
Young love
so hungry and lustful
a heart so warm and free
but oh how cold it becomes
when she is a woman scorned
A once warm loving heart
now cold, ridgidy and unforgiving
She stares out the window
at lovers walking by
hand in hand
all starry eyed
She snorts and laughs
oh you fools
she says to herself
And then their eyes meet
for a moment the ice begins to melt
her frosty heart
it feels something
She turns and looks the other way
no she has been here before
and will not go down this path
love only becomes lonely nights
Her frosty heart begs
it cries from within
it warms to feel the warmth again
if only for a few fleeting moments
She glances back
but alas he is gone
oh wait, what is this?
He is beside her asking if he may join her
Her frosty heart
oh it begins to sing
songs of love and spring
the melting begins
she wants to be young and free
to love and be loved
but dare she
yes, she must.
