Seen Who? FF

Just like each month, we have one of our talented blog buddies submit a photo, then we each write 5 captions for that photo. Each persons take is always very different so be sure to visit them all. It's only a few and worth a good laugh.
Funny Friday, October 2018
Today’s post is this month’s Funny Friday, a regular feature published on the last Friday
of every month. Funny Friday is a collaborative project. Each month one of the
participants submits a picture, then we all write 5 captions or thoughts inspired by that
month’s picture. Links to the other bloggers’ posts are below, click on them and see
what they’ve come up with. I hope we bring a smile to your face as you start your weekend.

Room With A View - UYW

Standing at the window looking out over the parking lot I felt hopeless. Would I ever be released? I had been couped up in this room for 3 weeks.
Over on the next roof top I could see a pool and several kids running around. It looked like their mom was having a nap. Oh how I would love to dip my toes in that pool, even if only for a minute.
Turning I saw my new coffee plant needed some water. I sighed, didn't we all, in some form? Water, nourishment, substance for the body and soul.
Little did I know when I accepted the position of Creative Designer with the overseas organization that it would be both a gift and a curse. A gift and a wonderful one at that, living overseas with all expenses paid PLUS a salary, I mean it was a dream come true but then there was the curse. Had I realized when I accepted the position that I would be locked down in a resort/compound in the Middle East I definitely would have reconsidered saying yes so quickly.
I missed my family. I missed my friends but most of all I missed my freedom. Oh I could leave but only with a guard and still I was confined to the compound. Now granted, it was massive and had everything you could want or imagine, except for freedom. I could not leave these walls or go near the gates that were heavily armed with guards, tanks and who knew what else.
My room had a view and a lovely one but it was oh so lonely too. Walking over to the couch and sitting down I picked up the contract. A courier had dropped off my new contract this morning. I still could not believe it, picking it up and seeing that number! WOW, it had not changed since I read it earlier. THREE MILLION dollars to stay another year!! Could I do it? Should I do it? My head hurt, reaching for my cell I hit speed dial as I remembered the time difference I hoped he wouldn't be upset for this ungodly hour with his phone ringing.
"uh hhello?"
"Hey, I know it's a crazy hour to be calling you but I just needed to hear your voice." I waited, hearing him take a breath I knew he was rubbing his face and trying to wake up.
"Okay, hey baby, what's going on? Talk to me." As a smile spread across my face, just hearing his voice gave me strength.
"They dropped off a new contract today. You're not going to believe this!"

Today’s post is a writing challenge. This is how it works: participating bloggers picked 4 – 6 words or short phrases for someone else to craft into a post. All words must be used at least once and all the posts will be unique as each writer has received their own set of words. That’s the challenge, here’s a fun twist; no one who’s participating knows who got their words and in what direction the writer will take them. Until now.

At the end of this post you’ll find links to the other blogs featuring this challenge. Check them all out, see what words they got and how they used them.

Pumpkins

Our once a month poetry collaboration theme is...pumpkins! I mean, it is October. 😃

Orange and round,
Filled with sweet meat.
Autumn is here,
It's pumpkins we eat.

In pies or in cakes,
It matters not which.
Smoothies or shakes,
All our tastebuds will twitch.

The above poem is compliments of my husband. Author Darrell Bedingfield
you can find his book Accidental Tenderness on Amazon.

carved with faces
candles inside
in scary places

sitting on steps
and yards with hay bales

Your “Secret Subject” is:
Is it necessary to love yourself before you can love someone else? Why or why not?
It was submitted by: https://climaxedtheblog.blogspot.com

The subject is, "is it necessary to love yourself before you can love someone else?"
My answer is not a simple one.
For years I’ve put myself down and did not hold myself in a high regard at all. I was very self doubting, negative, and brutally self defeating.
I had a friend tell me that if I was as forgiving to myself as I was to others I would be in a better frame of mind. Why you ask, because I would forgive people in my life of offenses and wrongs that they had done me without any second thought. I would forgive their faults and their shortcomings even though most of them should have been red flags to an upcoming abusive relationship. To the point of forgiving abuse even though deep down I knew they were not sorry and it would happen again.
In not loving myself I loved others to an extreme. Almost smothering. Because   I was afraid that they would see me as I saw me, very unlovable and unloving, and they would leave.
I did not want to be alone or lonely.
Had I in fact loved myself the way I did them, I would have realized I did not need them. Not in an arrogant way but in a self preservation way.
I do believe that you need to take care of your self in more ways than just appearance. Sometimes we need a mental break from life, like a hot bath or sitting on the beach and watching the sunset. Maybe even watching videos of babies giggling on YouTube. Sometimes we need a physical break and we need to get away.  We need an emotional break and we need to take a hot shower and cry until we get it all out. Then we can look at things fresh and start over. In doing any or all of these  that is loving yourself and if I can do these things, like love myself it makes me free to love someone else without restrictions or unrealistic expectations.
I can love myself and I can love others with freedom when I am secure in myself and my abilities. It is not arrogant nor is it being selfish to take care of oneself and to love oneself. It is the highest form of a complement to love your self and freely give love and love others with realistic boundaries.
As a mom, the greatest gift I can give my children is to show them that it is okay to love yourself, take care of yourself and to love others with the same respect.
Thanks Jennily
