Eye Ball Deep In Snow

Funny Friday, February 2018

Today’s post is this month’s Funny Friday, a regular feature published on the last Friday of every month. Funny Friday is a collaborative project. Each month one of the participants submits a picture, then we all write 5 captions or thoughts inspired by that month’s picture. Links to the other bloggers’ posts are below, click on them and see what they’ve come up with. I hope we bring a smile to your face as you start your weekend.

Here’s today’s picture. It was submitted by Dawn of Cognitive Script .

This photo was taken by my friend Eva and share with me. My grandkids would LOVE to have all this snow. Eva and her family live in Michigan. No thanks! It's beautiful but I'm a water girl, not frozen water.

1. Look grandma! See how deep it is!

2. Grandma to kids: I see now I'm going back in for coffee.

3. Hey I lost a shoe in here! And it's cold...

4. Ahh snow how I love you

5. Snow fort, snow balls, snow man, snow angel this is FUN grandma!

A Life Honored

Today’s post is a writing challenge. This is how it works: participating bloggers picked 4 – 6 words or short phrases for someone else to craft into a post. All words must be used at least once and all the posts will be unique as each writer has received their own set of words. That’s the challenge, here’s a fun twist; no one who’s participating knows who got their words and in what direction the writer will take them. Until now.
At the end of this post you’ll find links to the other blogs featuring this challenge. Check them all out, see what words they got and how they used them.

She stood in front of the podium.
She looked out over the crowd.
The lump in her throat grew with every passing second.
Silently she prayed, I need help Lord. This pain is too great, my hope is in you for that is the only way I can make it through this. Amen
She lifted her head and as she did, happiness formed inside. How? How could she be happy at this, the worst hour of her life?
But she was happy, it was an honor to stand here and give this eulogy, her final farewell to the man she loved more than life itself.
She drew in a deep breath, exhaled and began..."thank you all for coming here today and joining me in the celebration of a life well lived."

Your words are:
hope ~ help ~ happiness ~ honour ~ pain

Her Frosty Heart

Hi and welcome to the February group poetry post. Each month we pick a theme, then each blogger chooses their way of interperting that theme into a poem, hiaku, lymeric or prose. Be sure to visit each one as their links are listed at the bottom of this post.
This month's theme...frosty.

Her Frosty Heart

Young love
so hungry and lustful
a heart so warm and free
but oh how cold it becomes
when she is a woman scorned

A once warm loving heart
now cold, ridgidy and unforgiving

She stares out the window
at lovers walking by
hand in hand
all starry eyed

She snorts and laughs
oh you fools
she says to herself

And then their eyes meet
for a moment the ice begins to melt
her frosty heart
it feels something

She turns and looks the other way
no she has been here before
and will not go down this path
love only becomes lonely nights

Her frosty heart begs
it cries from within
it warms to feel the warmth again
if only for a few fleeting moments

She glances back
but alas he is gone
oh wait, what is this?
He is beside her asking if he may join her

Her frosty heart
oh it begins to sing
songs of love and spring
the melting begins

she wants to be young and free
to love and be loved
but dare she
yes, she must.

On The Road Again

Welcome to a Secret Subject Swap. This week 10 brave bloggers picked a secret subject for someone else and were assigned a secret subject to interpret in their own style. Today we are all simultaneously divulging our topics and submitting our posts.

Your “Secret Subject” is:
Are you a traveler or more of stay close to home person?
It was submitted by: http://www.southernbellecharm.com

Those who know me, know I am a traveler! I love to travel and in my former job, I was able to do just that, travel. Everyday, all over the state and sometimes out of state. Best part, it was on someone else's dime! Yes, as a private driver I was able to see places I may not have been to otherwise, discover hidden treasures of small towns and the excitement of large cities all while being paid. It was by far the best gig ever, second to being a wife/mom.
On any given Saturday you can find me behind the wheel tooling down the road. Where to you ask? Anywhere. It is common for me to get up, get in the car and just go. Oh I'll have a general direction in mind but not always a set place. Sight seeing, driving along country roads, stopping at road side markets, buying souvenirs, trinkets and handmade items. All the while taking a ton of photos. If you are a friend of mine, you've seen your share of my wanderings, photos and well more photos! I'm a shutter bug.
Now with that being said, if it is cold, rainy or nasty I quickly become a couch potato. Perfectly content to curl up on the couch, blanket, coffee, a good book or movie and my kitties. We will hibernate here all weekend and not feel the least bit guilty about it.
So, am I am traveler or a stay at home person? Well, I'm both. I'm multifaceted and proud of it.
My friends all joke that my theme song is "On The Road Again" by Willie Nelson because I am...always on the road. No better place to be, except on the water but that's a different post entirely.

Here are links to all the sites now featuring Secret Subject Swap posts.  Sit back, grab a cup, and check them all out. See you there:
