Pet Peeves - SSS June

Happy Friday y'all!! It's my birthday month and tomorrow is my actual birthday. However, what I plan on discussing is my TOP 5 pet peeves. Sadly, I have a longer list, but here are the top 5.

Pet Peeves... in no particular order
1. When someone says "oh wow, you looks SO good today" which means what? I look like crap on other days? Or do they mean, wow so glad you decided to do something with yourself instead of looking homeless. (LOL seriously though folks)
2. People who ride my ass in traffic, pass me, cut in front of me AND then brake, ONLY to give a signal AS they are turning!!! THAT really gets my dander up let me tell you.
3. Trashy folks. I mean people who throw trash on the side of the roads, on the beach, in parking lots and in their yard for it to blow into mine. Lazy that's what it is and a lack of care and concern for laws and others.
4. Lazy parents, people who do not care for their kids but get upset if you try to "help".
5. Animal cruelty or any time of cruelty for that matter. DO NOT be mean to your child, elder, spouse, or pet with me around because I might go all Twanda on y'all.

Others...
buying a bag of chips and getting 2/3 air
paying for air
birds crapping on my freshly washed car
the cat puking on the carpet RIGHT after it has been shampooed

Okay, I'll stop because this could go on for a while.

Frozen Not The Kids Movie - UYW

Today’s post is a writing challenge. However, the topic is sensitive and may upset some. I apologize if I bring up old memories or trauma. This is no joke, abuse, domestic violence, and the me too movement. Unfortunately some have used the me too movement as their own personal platform and have abused it by making false accusations which only makes it worse for the real victims. Here I have written a story, that happens far too many times. PLEASE only report what is real and true. BUT if you have been a victim speak out. seek help and bring justice.
This is how it works: participating bloggers picked 4 – 6 words or short phrases for someone else to craft into a post. All words must be used at least once and all the posts will be unique as each writer has received their own set of words. That’s the challenge, here’s a fun twist; no one who’s participating knows who got their words and in what direction the writer will take them. Until now.

At the end of this post you’ll find links to the other blogs featuring this challenge. Check them all out, see what words they got and how they used them.

She was cold and it was well past her bedtime but she had enjoyed herself. Out with the gang. Reaching over for the radio knob and cranking up the volume to help keep her awake, she heard the news anchor say it was "colder than a witches titty", she laughed oh yeah it was well after midnight. No way he'd get away with saying that otherwise.
Brr, it seemed the farther she drove the colder it got. It had to be the coldest night of the year.
Wooooo and flashing, oh no. No NO No, it can't be. Yep, it was. Blue lights and a siren behind her. $h!t she was not having a good day and she knew she had been drinking too much to drive home. she slowed and pulled over to the shoulder of the road.
She saw him, a big burly looking cop, as he sauntered over to her car. Being new to town, she didn't know many, but everyone knew this guy. He was a real jerk. He wore his badge like a "get out of jail free card" and broke more laws than you could count.
Great. She took a deep breath and hoped for the best.
My gosh it's freezing out here she thought. She stood with her arms wrapped around herself as officer Pig and officer Nice Guy put her through a sobriety test.
This was so embarrassing. Her own fault. She could have accept the ride offered her by Joe but she was "fine" and it was only a few miles. She almost choked on the thought. So arrogant, well she was sobering up now in this freezing cold air and no way Officer Pig would allow her to grab the jacket out of the backseat. Nope, he had something to prove.
Now, standing with her face pressed against her car, arms behind her back, cold steel bracelets on her wrist and this PIG running his hands all over her body. She kept telling herself, let it go, it's your own fault, you asked for this, you should have gotten a ride. But all the should haves and could haves did not negate the fact that this PIG was violating her body, her rights. Oh how she wanted to fight, to scream, kick and punch the crap out of this guy. But she knew all to well it would make it worse. And Officer Nice Guy over there on the radio, turning a blind eye to what was happening. He was no better. She felt sick.
His hands running up and down her legs, she could feel his sweaty palms through her clothes, she shivered with disgusted. He laughed and in a breathy voice said "oh you like it don't you?" Her stomach was turning. He groped her breast, way more than he needed to. He ran his hands over her leggings and up her skirt. Shoving his hands in her groin and lingering too long.
The humiliation, the disgust, the anger, the outrage, she could hold it in no longer, something in her was about to crack.
He spun her around by roughly grabbing her wrist and when he did, she lost it. She lost everything she had in her, the Cap'n Crunch cereal from breakfast, the Chinese Moo Goo from lunch, the Captain Morgan and hot wings from the night. Oh yes, she lost it all. ALL of it and it went ALL over Officer Pig! She made sure to move her head around so that he was as covered as she could possibly get him. The sorry SOB he deserved this and more.
He let out several expletives and threw her to the ground, he was just about to kick her in the face when Officer Nice Guy must have realized and ran over "NO NO NO BOB don't!" grabbing his partner by the arm and jerking him away just in time. She felt the breeze of his boot as it passed her face. Whew that was too close but she lay on the ground with a smile of her face because no matter what, she had paid him back for herself and every other woman he had done this too. She has spewed vile on him like the vile he was heaping on her with this nasty groping hands.
Swaying and bouncing, blurry images, oh gosh dang it her head hurt. She was, wait, where was she? In the back of the police car, looking out the window she could see the lights in town as they pulled up to the station. Breathing a sigh of relief to be away from this PIG but also steadying herself for what was surely to be a long rough night.

Your words are:

Another Year Has Passed - anniversary poetry

Each month we choose a theme, this month is Anniversaries.
This month is difficult for me as today would have been my Daddy's birthday. He passed in 2013 just six days before my birthday, seven days before my oldest son's birthday and thirteen days before Father's Day.
To say I miss him is an understatement.
He is better off, no more pain and sickness, which helps some. I don't think it ever goes away, you just find different ways of adjusting.

So with that...be sure to stop by the other participants and see what they have written.

Another Year Has Passed

Another year has passed
it could be happy or sad

Another year has passed
time to remember our past

Another year has passed
party time, let's celebrate

Another year has passed
come to together with family and friends

Another year has passed
life moves on and we grow

Another year has passed
it's a little easier to smile

Another year has passed
and we will celebrate

Well Bust My Britches - SSS

Welcome to a Secret Subject Swap. This week 8 brave bloggers picked a secret subject for someone else and were assigned a secret subject to interpret in their own style. Today we are all simultaneously divulging our topics and submitting our posts.

Well bust my britches! Of course Karen would want to know my "embarrassing story" and I'd love to say I don't have one. Actually I have several but I'm choosing the least embarrassing one. Well, not really because they were all really bad in my head.

So it's shopping day. I'm out the door with my favorite shirt and jeans on. Double check, yep, list, phone, wallet, debit card and keys. So I'm off. I hit the first store, in and out in record time. The dreaded Wally World, now I drive straight across the street, I survived that my reward is an iced coffee from DD. Mmm mmm
Now I'm out in traffic again, it is horrible here in HOTLanta. I make it to my favorite store, Aldi. I get my shopping done. They had everything on my list. I bag it all up and to the truck I go. It's loaded up, I return my cart and head for home.
Once everything is in the house, took a couple of trips. I'm off to the little girls room.
Okay...I'm sitting there and look down. Hmm my jeans look funny.
OMG to my horror, oh it is NOT funny! My jeans are ripped!! NOT a tear, not a little hole. I mean RIPPED like a BIG gaping hole!
HOLY CRAP WHEN did this happen???? Did I walk around in ALL THREE stores like this? Could anyone see my thighs?? Oh dear sweet mama!
I can't even get up. I'm sitting there horrified. I finally get up the courage, get up and check myself in the mirror. I can't tell.
I go about putting away the stuff and groceries. Hubby comes home for lunch and I'm like "Hey look at my butt and tell me if you see anything"
OKAY not the best way to ask this question!
He's like "woo hoo I've got time."
I said "time for what?"
He said "never mind, obviously that's not what you meant."
I just rolled my eyes. "NO that's not what I meant!"
I said "LOOK "
He said "okay I'm looking but for what?"
I said "do you see anything?"
He says "yes, your butt, why?"
I said, "do my jeans look weird?" I walk a little.
He said "wait, wait, come here"
I walk over to him, he looks at me and says "Umm you can't wear those out anymore."
I'm almost in tears! OMG You can tell!!!!
He's laughing, I'm laughing/crying "It's not funny"
Aww come here I'm sorry.
I said, OMG I was all over 3 stores! he said "honey you were in WM do you really think anyone noticed?"
I said "OMG I hope not, I don't want to be one peopleofwalmart.com"

Ode to My Sock

Welcome and happy May 9th. Today a few of us are sharing our take on the theme "lost sock memorial day" in poetry form. Who came up with this memorial? I'm thinking a mom with several kids who never have matching socks. In her exasperation and possible venting, she spoke to the right person and Viola! Lost Sock Memorial Day was born.

Ode To My Sock

Opening the drawer
I see no more
Where have the socks gone
In the hamper?
In the trash?
Maybe between the washer and wall
I can't find them all
Searching high
searching low
did wings grow
did they take flight
Once more to the dryer
nothing but lint
back to the dresser
finding not one hint
purse in hand
to the store I go
to buy one more pack
or should I lack
forget socks
forget shoes
bare feet it is

Poem 2
Where are my socks he said
look in the drawer
Do you think I'm a bore
Of course I looked in the drawer
 to the dryer
look insider her
nothing but lint
not even a hint
Where did they go
did someone hide them
but who
are they in my shoe
not in the shoe
not in the basket
not in the drawer
what ever will I do
wait for part 2...

She stood in front of the podium.
She looked out over the crowd.
The lump in her throat grew with every passing second.
Silently she prayed, I need help Lord. This pain is too great, my hope is in you for that is the only way I can make it through this. Amen
She lifted her head and as she did, happiness formed inside. How? How could she be happy at this, the worst hour of her life?
But she was happy, it was an honor to stand here and give this eulogy, her final farewell to the man she loved more than life itself.
She drew in a deep breath, exhaled and began..."thank you all for coming here today and joining me in the celebration of a life well lived."

Your words are:

On The Road Again

Welcome to a Secret Subject Swap. This week 10 brave bloggers picked a secret subject for someone else and were assigned a secret subject to interpret in their own style. Today we are all simultaneously divulging our topics and submitting our posts.

Your “Secret Subject” is:
Are you a traveler or more of stay close to home person?
It was submitted by: http://www.southernbellecharm.com

Those who know me, know I am a traveler! I love to travel and in my former job, I was able to do just that, travel. Everyday, all over the state and sometimes out of state. Best part, it was on someone else's dime! Yes, as a private driver I was able to see places I may not have been to otherwise, discover hidden treasures of small towns and the excitement of large cities all while being paid. It was by far the best gig ever, second to being a wife/mom.
On any given Saturday you can find me behind the wheel tooling down the road. Where to you ask? Anywhere. It is common for me to get up, get in the car and just go. Oh I'll have a general direction in mind but not always a set place. Sight seeing, driving along country roads, stopping at road side markets, buying souvenirs, trinkets and handmade items. All the while taking a ton of photos. If you are a friend of mine, you've seen your share of my wanderings, photos and well more photos! I'm a shutter bug.
Now with that being said, if it is cold, rainy or nasty I quickly become a couch potato. Perfectly content to curl up on the couch, blanket, coffee, a good book or movie and my kitties. We will hibernate here all weekend and not feel the least bit guilty about it.
So, am I am traveler or a stay at home person? Well, I'm both. I'm multifaceted and proud of it.
My friends all joke that my theme song is "On The Road Again" by Willie Nelson because I am...always on the road. No better place to be, except on the water but that's a different post entirely.

Each month one of the participants submits a picture, then we all write 5 captions or thoughts inspired by that month’s picture. Links to the other bloggers’ posts are below, click on them and see what they’ve come up with. I hope we bring a smile to your face as you start your weekend.

Wedding Bells - UYW

Ann and I were in the front yard of her mother's home, down on our hands and knees, pulling weeds. Not something I enjoy doing but I love spending time with my cousin/BFF. She is the sweetest soul, funny, smart and we share the same birthday. I however am older which she is very quick to remind me of! hahaha
I sat up on my heels, wiped the sweat from my brow as I looked over at Ann all hunched over the dirt and blurted out... SO, do you want to be my maid of honor?
She jerked up straight, looked at me, eyes big as saucers, jaw hanging slack and then it came. She squealed loud enough to be heard a mile away. I laughed so loud and hard I almost fell over!
Ann said "ARE YOU KIDDING ME???? OMGosh YES, yes yes yes!"
She leaped across the dirt and landed smack dab on me, squishing me with tons of hugs. We were both laughing and crying at the same time. It was the most elated and alive I had felt in years, except of course when he said "will you marry me".
We sat there in the front yard, all dirty and sweaty, talking details until our old bones could barely move.
When I stood up, I looked down and there was a big ol'scrape on my knee, no wonder it was burning. I said, "your momma's gonna need to find me a band aid, look what you did!" and we both laughed again.
While inside the house that afternoon, one by one, family stopped by. This is normal. Our family is deeply rooted and connected to each other. We spend most weekends together and when one rejoices, we all rejoice and when one is sad, we all gather our shotguns and go after the SOB that hurt our family. Just kidding, verbally we may attack the snot out of them but we are not violent women at all. During the visits there were lots of shocked faces, tears flowed like a leaky faucet and even a few squeals but nothing like the one Ann let out earlier. My cup over-floweth! My heart was bursting at the seems and this I thought, was how it is supposed to be.
Sheree asked about my friends, won't they be upset that one of them is not the maid of honor?
I sat and thought for a minute and replied, "No. They know how close Ann and I are, they are all very happy for me and thrilled to be guest. I might have a few acquaintances that I'll have to let them down easy but I wouldn't choose them anyway. It will be fine, besides, my day, my choice right?"
Ann pipes up and says "That's right! They'll get over it because I'M standing up with my BFF!!" Everyone laughed and took a sip of tea sweet enough to rot your teeth.

Today's words are: Maid of honor ~ Let them down easy ~ Band Aid ~ Weeds
They were submitted by: https://berghamchronicles.blogspot.com
This short story is in part fiction. I am getting married on the 14th, so in just a few short days. Ann is my cousin and will be my maid of honor. She did squeal like a stuck pig on slaughter day but the rest is intermingled with truth and fiction. Hope you enjoyed it. I am truly blessed and no Jules had no idea! Which makes this all the more touching to me.
