Don't Panic, yet...Funny Friday

Welcome...

Today’s post is this month’s Funny Friday, a regular feature published on the last Friday of every month. Funny Friday is a collaborative project. Each month one of the participants submits a picture, then we all write 5 captions or thoughts inspired by that month’s picture. Links to the other bloggers’ posts are below, click on them and see what they’ve come up with. I hope we bring a smile to your face as you start your weekend.

Here’s today’s picture. It was submitted by Cognitive Script. (your's truly)

44 - Cognitive Script - September 2017.jpg
1. Me: So if I need help, you mean all I do is push this little dinky plastic button?

2. Tim, head of security "Yes BUT only IF it is an emergency"

3. Me "Okay, and what happens then"...impish grin

4. Tim, "DO NOT push this button Dawn! If you do, in less than 10 minutes there will be TSA, Security and the 3 Sheriff cars barreling in that door" and he points next to me.

5. Me... "really!? Cool, wait...10 minutes? Hell by that time I'll have it under control or be dead." Reality, whew sometimes truth is stranger than fiction. This was a real conversation between the head of security and myself at work.

Forgiveness

Forgiveness

Once, there was a time
I thought I would never heal.

Time marches on,
      life happens,
            hearts begin to mend.

My thoughts turn to you,
to happier times once shared.
I could not get you out of my mind.
You never left my heart.
     I gave in.
Forgiveness happened.

     We talked,
          we laughed,
               we healed,
                    we reconnected.
The love was still there,
we could no longer fight it.

Look at us now,
happy, whole and together.
It's amazing what happens when you forgive.
     Life moves forward,
          love blooms,
               clouds clear.
The storms may rage,
but you no longer weather them alone.

Standing on a hill looking down,
I can see clearly now
     YOU. . . my soulmate
     YOU. . . my love
     YOU. . . my forever

It's amazing what happens when you forgive

Assumptions are Dangerous

Assumptions are dangerous or as my boys youth pastor used to say "don't assume anything because you will make yourself the first three letters". The first time I heard him say that I thought it was awful and HOW DARE he say such a thing to my boys and our youth.
Well over the years I have learned just how true it is.
More times than not I have found myself jumping to conclusions due to my assuming things and found that I looked and or sounded like an ass. There ya go, the first three letters.
Never would I imagine that his words would ring true over and over again. Like the time I received an email from a friend, it was almost cryptic in nature, and left a ton of open ended questions. Did I ask? No. Who was I to question what they were saying, instead it was much easier to come up with my own  conclusions and assume. There again, ass.
The hideous thoughts we have, jumping to conclusions, never taking into consideration ALL possibilities but instead falling head first into a sea of self righteous indignation...oh wait, what. I'm the only one?
Tonight I sit here, waiting for someone to walk through the door, questions on my mind, assumptions of what they REALLY meant by an earlier comment, accusations in my head like those damn flying monkeys that tormented Dorothy. I have grown, I have learned a few things, so I sit here, waiting. No jumping to conclusions but asking at the right time, what did they mean, what was the reason behind their comment and what role do I play in this. Yes, I have learned a lot, grown, mostly through being damaged, hurt, crushed even. Tonight I simply say, you know your comment earlier today caused me concern, even hurt my feelings just a tad. Can we discuss it? Will you elaborate on what you said, spell it out, make it clear? Yes, I've learned a lot and it has had a high price but it has been worth every moment to find myself where I am right now.

Your words are:
never ~ jumping ~ tonight ~ email ~ hideous

Today’s post is a writing challenge. This is how it works: participating bloggers picked 4 – 6 words or short phrases for someone else to craft into a post. All words must be used at least once and all the posts will be unique as each writer has received their own set of words. That’s the challenge, here’s a fun twist; no one who’s participating knows who got their words and in what direction the writer will take them. Until now.

At the end of this post you’ll find links to the other blogs featuring this challenge. Check them all out, see what words they got and how they used them.

Better Late Than Never, Right?

Welcome to the monthly poetry challenge. Several bloggers get together each month, pick a theme and attempt to write a poem. Some are more successful than others. Be sure to scroll down and visit the others.

Be Late For Something Day - poetry challenge

Better late than never they say
but is that really true
for if you are late for everything
what will you be due?

If you return a book late
there are fees involved
If your credit card payment is late
the fees evolve

If you are late for your monthly cycle
a baby will ensue
and if you are late feeding
screaming will pursue

Deadlines are set
time lines are in effect
payments are due
to include the rent

Lights turn red
we must stop
or be dead

Turn off the stove
or burn your honeys dinner

So is it true?
Better late than never?
I ask you...

Consider others time
consider the possible consequences
think about this rhyme
the next time you need to be on time.

Is it...better late than never?

The Old Lady Shuffle

Do you dance? I don't, I used to and loved it. But over the years, marriage, kids and weight gain I stopped. WHY? Well, let's see, no time, self conscience, no time, being a grown up and not wanting to look silly.

So fast forward, the kids are grown, I'm alone and I find myself dancing around the house and enjoying myself. My steps...the old lady shuffle. I would like to think I look cool or even sexy but I'm sure it is more like this...

Your “Secret Subject” is:
Do you dance? Any favorite moves? What kind of music do you dance to?
It was submitted by: http://thelieberfamily.com

Welcome to a Secret Subject Swap. This week 10 brave bloggers picked a secret subject for someone else and were assigned a secret subject to interpret in their own style. Today we are all simultaneously divulging our topics and submitting our posts.

Here are links to all the sites now featuring Secret Subject Swap posts.  Sit back, grab a cup, and check them all out. See you there:
