Broken Hearted Mama - UYW

Today’s post is a writing challenge. This is how it works: participating bloggers picked 4 – 6 words or short phrases for someone else to craft into a post. All words must be used at least once and all the posts will be unique as each writer has received their own set of words. That’s the challenge, here’s a fun twist; no one who’s participating knows who got their words and in what direction the writer will take them. Until now.
At the end of this post you’ll find links to the other blogs featuring this challenge. Check them all out, see what words they got and how they used them.

She opened the invitation. Slowly running her hand over the italicize lettering on the front. Opening it she saw the beautiful penmanship and knew it was written by her. Because had Jim written it, no way you could decipher the writing. As a man, he saw no need in perfecting his writing after all only needed to sign his name to the checks and documents as he had pointed out so many times.
An invitation to a birthday party, how kind of "her" to invite me Sarah thought. Ugh...she hated feeling this way. WHY did life have to be so complicated. WHY didn't her son marry a woman she liked or even one she could tolerate instead of this insipid idiot, money grubbing gold digging floozy!
Taking a deep breath and slowly releasing it. Sarah thought back to the day her son got his pilot license. He was so proud, granted he had to repeat the test 3 times but once he had it down, he was golden. He never did test well as a child, over thinking normally got him in trouble. Too bad he didn't do that with women.
Yes that was a fateful day. The day he met her. Kendall. Sarah shuttered even at the thought of her name.
She had turned Jim against the family in no time flat. Demanding all his time and spending all his money. No mama don't play that...but mama didn't win this time.
It did not take Kendall long to convince Jim that they needed to move, California was the place to be. He could hang up his corporate job and become a pilot full time. He loved that idea, he was such a dreamer and soon they were married, moved and hardly a word from them.
It saddened Sarah's heart so much. Her son, once her best friend, her buddy, her sweet little guy who rarely left her side. Now he was living across the country, flying and doing who knew what. Not Sarah, she only heard from him on her birthday and major holidays. Mostly through text messages because if he was home he couldn't possibly call his momma, no that would interfere with HER time. Growling a little inside, Sarah looked at the date on the invitation.
WHAT??? The party is in 3 days?! HOW IN THE HECK was she going to make that? Oh yes, she wasn't, I'm sure that's the plan she thought. She sent me an invitation last minute because she knew I wouldn't be able to make it.
HA! Laughs on her. I will move hell and high water this time. I will be there Sarah out loud to no one but the cat. Oh yes, I'll be there and I'll be damned if she will stop me.
